Give your wipers a rest: Scrape instead
We know scraping your windshield in the freezing cold is, well, cold, but dousing the glass with a constant stream of washer fluid and running the wipers to clear the ice and frost has downsides. Dumping all that fluid onto the windshield means you could run out when you really need it, and the excess fluid that runs onto the ground is a waste. Also, your wiper blades can become shredded and useless in no time flat if you keep trying to use them to scrape off the ice: they're soft rubber while a scraper is hard plastic.

New plant makes corn cobs into fuel

Poet LLC, the nation's top ethanol producer, hopes the facility will produce 20,000 gallons of fuel each year from the corn cobs and fiber normally left behind in fields.
