"I LOVE MY CAR BECAUSE ... it was the first vehicle I ever owned, and it used to be my "hay truck" when I lived in the country. Also, being it's a four-wheel-drive, it makes even hilly Seattle city driving a snap in the snowy weather!"

"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
People like this ARE the problem! They consume as much of Earth's resources by driving their car for ONLY ONE DAY as a normal person does in an entire YEAR.
Junk that gross pig-slob-car and get a sensible piece of personal transportation equipment.

geez, charles, maybe you oughta lay off the caffeine.
Your comment about 1 day's use of a pickup for using resources is idiotic and non-informed.
Your want her to junk it? Great. Send her the money for a new car.
You have no idea what her needs are for a vehicle or how much she uses it. Any car that is paid for and runs is a valuable transport device. Cars are a long term investment and difficult to just "junk"
I happen to agree that hybrids, etc are excellent cars for fuel sipping, fewer emissions.
I don't see in this economic environment, telling people that they need to take out a car loan for another car.

Charles is not only an elitist snob, but could not be more wrong!
This person is greener than the greenest Prius driver!
They don't drive it enough to pollute or consume much, and the total footprint of maintaining this used vehicle is much smaller than junking it and producing a new vehicle!

Charles, go take a toke and chill man.
The 4WD truck there isn't that bad on the environment. During the whole Seattle Snowpocalypse, while people were complaining I got around just fine. I'm sure my vehicle would make Charles go into convulsions, but I carried 6 people in my Suburban. I don't commute in it. I drive it for special occasions. For the record, I take the bus 3 or 4 times out of the week and I have two other cars for main transportation. It is stupid narrow minded nuttiness like Charles that is ruining the Northwest. Let me know when they have a hybrid that can haul 20+ sheets of drywall (which I've done in my Chevy).

Great truck. Made back in the day when GM was not being strangled by the UAW and government CAFE crap.
But America was not a socialist state back then and Washington's senators had cojones.
