MyKey sets limits, student-built racers go off-road and I-90 lane closures begin

MyKey

MyKey system lets you set speed limits
Ford's MyKey -- a system that allows owners to program their cars to limit the speed and music volume -- has been named AAA's top pick for new auto technology. The system, meant to appeal to parents of teenage drivers, has two different keys for the ignition, one of which is an administrative key that can set preferences such as speed and volume limits. The car's audio system also won't turn on if the driver isn't wearing a seat belt. MyKey will come standard on the 2010 Focus and eventually will be added to other Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models.

Student-built racers roll in the Northwest
College students from across the world will convene in Portland May 7-10 for the seventh event of SAE International's Collegiate 2009 Design Series. The Portland event challenges students to build an off-road baja racer from the ground up. Aside from certain components like shocks and engine, the car is completely fabricated at each college or university. The cars will compete in dynamic challenges such as a hill climb and rock crawl, as well as an endurance race. Admission for spectators is free.
