Tesla demand
Electric-car manufacturer Tesla says it has received 520 $5,000 deposits for its upcoming Model S electric high-performance sedan. Tesla says that the demand so far has exceeded expectations.
New Trixx
General Motors is reportedly readying an all-electric production version of its Trixx show car, first shown in New York in 2004. To keep costs to a minimum and to help speed development (it's slated for 2012), the Trixx will borrow its electric drivetrain from the Chevy Volt.
Hyundai hybrid
Hyundai says its first plug-in hybrid -- based on the company's recently debuted Blue-Will concept -- will debut in the United States in late 2012. The Blue-Will is able to travel 38 miles on all electric power, netting an average fuel-economy rating of 106 mpg. Roof-mounted solar panels can also charge the batteries.

520 units Tesla considers "beyond their expectations?" Boy, they sure aim low. They can't make a profit selling 500 cars. The Volt preorder was over 40,000 a year ago, two years before it was due. I might add that Tesla better hope that neither EEStor, Firefly nor A123 Systems comes through with their advanced batteries. That will destroy tesla Tesla with their obsoslete 1st generation laptop batteries.

This is old information. the 520 was within a short period of accepting reservations. The Chevy volt never had an offical preorder. There was a site that kept up to date info on the Volt that had a preorder list but it wasn't offical so the Volt doesn't actually have any preorders. No one paid any money for a Volt yet. But the Tesla Model S has recieved over 5 million dollars in preorders so far.

I am good friends with Elon and he predicts that his company will be on schedule to deliver those cars by 2011.

Bradshaw (right),
Their batteries are not made by them, but offshore. They will be able to switch when the time comes. If EESTOR was real, I suspect that Musk would GLADLY switch. After all, he was the first to HONESTLY push electrical vehicles. All the majors are pushing Serial Hybrids because it makes them a lot more money.
I have seen you all over the place just trying to bash Musk. Any particular reason why?

Model S FTW! I have already put down my deposit. Can't wait.

Tesla will gain Huge with the release of the EEstor EESU, A123 Li-Iron phosphate, or firefly battery syatems.
the EEstor tech in particular will allow Elon Musk to offer longer range at affordable price, making tesla able to effectively "take over" the Biggest market for EVs. Under $25K price range.
with Tesla the ONLY production EV on the market. other manufacturers will need to "catch up"
If Elon can "hit" this price range and EV driving range, he will be hard to catch.

Series Hybrid is a good thing, it is basically a pure electric vehicle with a fuel powered generator on-board to charge batteries. this will help transition to pure electric vehicles until someone like EEstor releases a realistic Energy storage device.
what others are pushing is the Paralell Hybrid like the Toyota Prius. this system uses a ICE for primary propulsion with a Electric motor in the transaxle to "compliment" propulsion. PHEV is not very efficient. and not the answer to our problem with fossel fuels.
Ultimately, w need to end up with Pure Electric Propulsion. But we need a Battery that stores minimum 15 KWH at a realistic price.
If Eestor is for real, We will have our "cake".

It's my understanding that ZENN Auto in Canada has exclusive use of eestor tech for any car 3000lbs or lighter. That's Zenn has increased their share in eestor to about 5%

EEstor has presented 3rd party verification of Permittivity in it's CMBT dielectric powders. Permittivity being no less than 22,500 over a wide range of temperatures. this is one of Zenn's pre determined milestones that triggers another round of investments.
on this milestone, ZMC has increased it's stake in EEstor to ~6.5% i believe. this is good news because it shows Zenn has confidence EEstor can deliver "Production grade" CMBT purity. which is the base of EEstor's invention.
The company to watch now is KPCB. If KPCB "ups" it's stake in EEstor, we expect a commercial production EESU is not far behind.
EEstor has stated that they expect to deliver a production line EESU to ZMC around late 3rd or early 4th quarter 2009.
all eyes are on EEstor now

Let the greenie weenies line up to buy these things.
Just don't try to use govermnet regulation and forced behavioral modification to make the rest of us accept them.
It'll never happen. These things will go away as soon as one-party rule is over.

I cannot believe that people still believe anything about EEStor.
EEStor claims to have Bigfoot locked in the basement, yet no on has ever seen photos of Bigfoot, no Bigfoot turds, no Bigfoot hair, no Bigfoot DNA, no nothing except for claims that Bigfoot is in the basement. Meanwhile, Zenn and Ian Clifford are selling tickets to the traveling Bigfoot show.

EEStor hasn't proven sh*t. It's so sad how everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Don't keep your hopes up.

The new electrics are great and all, but how could someone drive to Eugene or Pullman and back in a day with one of the current ones?
I have made several multi-thousand mile trips in a car - none of which would have been possible in even the best of the electrics.
They have made great strides, and are a good solution for short tripdriving (i.e. city), but until they can deal with the time it takes to refuel, they will never replace gas engines, which can be refueled in a few minutes almost anywhere.

Rick,
The Chevy Volt is the answer to all your questions.
