Poll finds drivers worried about texting
Nearly 90 percent of AAA survey respondents said that texting or e-mailing while driving is a very serious threat to safety -- the same percentage that cited drunk driving as a very serious threat. The AAA Foundation's second annual survey of the driving public also found that more than half of those who admitted to reading or sending text messages or e-mails while driving believed they were much more likely to have an accident. Lawmakers are currently pushing for more states to ban texting while driving. Washington state does not allow texting while driving, but enforces it only as a secondary traffic violation.
