Wheelchair-ready MV-1 gets green light
The first factory-built and assembled wheelchair-accessible vehicle, the MV-1, will begin volume production in October 2010, its maker, The Vehicle Production Group, recently announced. Unlike other wheelchair-accessible vehicles that are conversions or aftermarket retrofits, the MV-1 is built from the ground up to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act vehicle guidelines. It features wide doors for easy wheelchair entrance and a wide ramp that stores beneath the floor inside the vehicle. It can accommodate five passengers plus the driver, including up to two forward facing wheelchair riders.

Ford: Crown Victoria will be replaced
Ford says it will produce an all-new Police Interceptor specially designed and engineered to replace the Ford Crown Victoria law enforcement vehicle lineup in 2011. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, introduced in the early 1980s, commands about 75 percent of the market segment. Ford didn't provide the name of the car it is developing but says it has been working on the vehicle for the last 14 months with its own Police Advisory Board. Chrysler, General Motors and Indiana-based Carbon Motors also are aggressively pursuing the police car market.
