Enterprise leads in rental car satisfaction
Overall customer satisfaction with renting cars at airports has stabilized in 2009 after two years of declines, according to the recently released J.D. Power and Associates 2009 U.S. Rental Car Satisfaction Study. Enterprise ranked highest in customer satisfaction for the sixth consecutive year, followed by National and Hertz. The study examined six factors: costs and fees; pick-up process; rental car; return process; reservation process; and shuttle bus/van. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Dollar and Payless came in below the industry average.

Housing boom could mean truck sales
Automakers are optimistic that the U.S. housing market -- and their pickup sales -- will rebound in 2010. Pickup sales are closely tied to the housing market, says Mike DiGiovanni, General Motors' U.S. sales analyst. GM predicts housing starts will jump to an annual rate of 650,000 by the end of 2010, up from 450,000 in 2009. Truck sales this year are down 32.5 percent through October, according to Autodata. Pickups are one of the most lucrative products for U.S. automakers. They have loyal buyers, many of whom use their trucks primarily for work, wearing them out and replacing them often.
