Show debuts
The North American International Auto Show in Detroit opens Jan. 11 with several new all-electric models on display. Three that will be unveiled:
• An electric version of Volvo's C30 premium hatchback. The C30 can be fully charged in eight hours, has a range of 93 mile ranges and a top speed of about 81 mph. It is expected to go on sale in 2012.
• An electric version of the upcoming Fiat 500. Also expected to be on display is the Lancia Delta hatchback, which is currently sold in Europe.
• An electric version of the BMW 1-Series coupe. Dubbed the BMW Concept ActiveE, it delivers 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It has a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 90 mph.
