Buying trends
Americans bought more efficient cars and trucks in 2008 compared with a year earlier, and the same is expected when 2009 numbers are released, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced recently. New U.S. vehicles averaged 21 mpg in 2008, up 0.4 mpg from 2007. The EPA estimates the average will be 21.1 mpg for 2009 models.
