Electric forecast
A global analyst recently predicted electric vehicles (plug-in and battery powered) would make up 20 percent of the global auto market by 2030. HIS Global Insight forecasts an 8.6 percent market share for plug-in hybrids and 9.9 percent for battery electric. Batteries and a power grid, the firm says, are the two stumbling blocks going forward.

BMW partnership
BMW and Peugeot Citroen will extend their existing partnership to work towards meeting Europe's 2014 emissions limits. The companies plan to build a new version of their four-cylinder gasoline engine, as well as look for other systems and components on which to cooperate.
