"I LOVE MY CAR BECAUSE ... it was my gift to myself after retiring from the Air Force, ordered in Spain before I returned to the States. It has low mileage, stays garaged when not driven and looks great for its age. I tell people my 'baby Beemer' wants to be a 600 series when it grows up."

FYI: "Beemer" is the motorcycle made by BMW.
The E46 318ti is powered by 1.9 L is a mundane commuter car popular in Europe, just as Honda Accords are popular in the US.

This looks like a sport package E36 318ti. It was rated as one of the 3 best handling cars sold in America by Car&Driver magazine when it was new.
Mine is green and also lives in West Seattle.

You're not listening close enough to what your car is saying...it would never want to be a 600 series car...they're garbage really....it saying it wants to be an M3!
And Bimmer refers to the car...Beemer refers to the motorcycle!

Ok guys, who gives a flying ... what beemer refers to!? You got the gist of what she's saying, correct, don't be so critical.. it's not that serious! The earth did not stand still, your heart didn't stop beating.. give it a rest.
I own a '97 318ti and i love it just the same as you love your BMW. Mine resides in NJ and never sees the snow, "Roger" is garaged year round.

All 1999 318ti's were Sport models. This is a very desirable model among enthusiasts, second only to the 1995 Club Sport. The 318ti was offered as an entry-level BMW from 1995-1999 in the USA. There were two engines utilized for these cars. The 1.8 liter M42 (1995) and the 1.9 liter M44 (1996-1999). HP ratings range between 138-145 respectively.
Many enthusiasts choose to replace (swap) the stock motor with the larger e36 offerings. This is a direct replacement with very few modifications. With the larger displacement in place...these cars are incredible! Although, the MPG ratings drop dramatically. The 318ti can easily reach 32-36 MPG on the open hwy.
I've owned my 1995 318ti Active for 7 years...love it!!!
