Fiat confirmed
Chrysler's new Italian management has confirmed it will build a fully electric Fiat 500 minicar to sell in the U.S. in 2012. Chrysler said the U.S. would be the first market for the electric 500. Pricing was not announced. The 500 with an internal combustion engine will go on sale starting in December.

Leaf battery pack (Nissan)

Battery rentals
Nissan says it expects most of its world-wide customers to lease rather than buy battery packs for its electric vehicles, like the Leaf. Lithium-ion batteries are the most expensive component of electric autos. However, the company's North American unit decided against battery-pack leases for the Leaf in the U.S.
