Hyundai Sonata hybrid and Chevrolet Cruze Eco unveiled at New York auto show

Sonata hybrid
Hyundai unveiled a gas-electric hybrid version of its popular Sonata midsize sedan at the New York auto show this month. The 2011 model will get an estimated 39 highway mpg and 37 city mpg. It also can run fully on electricity at speeds up to 62 mph. The Sonata Hybrid will go on sale around November or December. Pricing will be announced later.

Cruze goes eco
Chevrolet revealed the 2011 Cruze Eco, a high-efficiency version of the compact car powered by an Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged engine, at the New York auto show this month. It's expected to get 40 mpg on the highway when combined with a six-speed manual transmission and is expected to deliver the best fuel economy in the compact segment when it hits showrooms this fall.
