Ford's take on the affordable urban car debuted at the Beijing auto show last month. It uses an aluminum and steel frame to cut weight, and its body panels are made from pre-colored recyclable composites, eliminating the need for painting. There are no plans for production.

The affordable part is where Ford keeps failing. Yes, they make affordable small cars. But, people want high-quality, fun small cars. This is a neat looking car, and they should build it as a competitor to the Mini and price it accordingly.

Mini Coopers start at about $20k. There's no way people would pay that for a car made out of "pre-colored recyclable composites." This concept would have to compete with sub-$10k Hyundais to be successful.
The only part here where Ford's dropping the ball is by not producing the car.
