Honda electric
Honda recently announced that it will start selling an electric vehicle as well as a plug-in hybrid in 2012 in the U.S. and Japan. The company didn't give details of the vehicles, except to say that the electric car would be a commuter with a relatively short cruise range. Within the next year, Honda will also introduce several hybrid models, including the Fit hybrid.

Volt warranty
General Motors announced it will provide an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the Chevrolet Volt's new lithium-ion battery (shown above), calling it a show of confidence in the technology's capability. The warranty program is three years longer than GM's standard powertrain warranty.
