Prius wagon, plug-in expected next year
Toyota plans to roll out two new cars under the Prius name by next year, according to a dealer briefed on the plans. Toyota will begin selling a Prius station wagon starting next summer as either a 2011 or 2012 model, and will sell a plug-in version of the Prius that can get 30 miles on a charge starting later in the year, says Adam Lee, president of a chain of dealerships in Maine. Toyota unveiled the new vehicles at its annual dealer meeting in Las Vegas last week.

Study: new drivers need diverse practice
Nearly half of parents in a new AAA study reported that after the yearlong learner's stage, there was still at least one condition in which they did not feel comfortable letting their teen drive. One in three parents cited driving heavy traffic or on the highway, and one in five didn't think their teen was ready to drive in the rain. AAA recommends frequent practice at night, in bad weather, in heavy city traffic, on rural highways and on busy interstates. The report was released for National Teen Driver Safety Week, which started Oct. 17.
