Nearly all drivers in the state buckle up
An observational survey by the Washington State Patrol last week found that 97.6 percent of state motorists wear their seat belts -- a rate that's expected to be one of the nation's highest. Officials say the state saw an improvement of 1.2 percent from 2009's use rate of 96.4 percent. A nationwide observational seat belt survey is conducted each year. During the 2010 survey in Washington, observers recorded seat belt use by 94,426 vehicle drivers and passengers.

Chrysler dealers vie to add Fiat to lineups
Chrysler says the number of applications it received from dealers who want to sell Fiats in the U.S. surpassed its goal of having 165 locations when the Fiat 500 goes on sale in December. The company plans to pick those who will get Fiat franchises within a few weeks; how many will be selected wasn't specified. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers who get Fiat franchises will have to build separate showrooms and have separate sales and service staffs for the 500 (shown at right), in order to help create a distinctive European aura.
