Ford's 40 club
Ford plans to have four vehicles that get 40 mpg or better available in 2011, more than any other major automaker. Three 2011 models are included in the list: the Fiesta SE with SFE package, the Fusion Hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The all-new 2012 Focus (shown at right) is expected to join the list when it's released early next year.

Optima hybrid
Kia introduced its all-new 2011 Optima Hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month, the first U.S. hybrid for the automaker. The midsize sedan will get an estimated 40 mpg, and can operate in full-electric mode at speeds up to 62 mph. It is expected to go on sale early next year.
