Europeans name Leaf as Car of the Year
The all-electric Nissan Lead was recently named 2011 European Car of the Year, the first time an electric vehicle has won the award. The jury, which included 57 motoring journalists from 23 European countries, called the Leaf "a breakthrough for electric cars" and the first EV that can compare to conventional cars.

Chrysler launches hopes on new sedans
Chrysler launched production of two mid-size sedans -- the revamped Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger -- last week in an effort to lure back customers and reinvigorate the brands. The 200 (shown at right) replaces the poor-selling Sebring. Chrysler says it made 45 different improvements just to dampen wind noise, from new window glass to a new engine mounting system. Both cars were restyled inside and out, and are the first vehicles designed and built in collaboration with new parent company Fiat.
