Volt snags two more best of 2011 awards
The Chevrolet Volt has picked up two more major awards: Motor Trend's 2011 Car of the Year and Automobile Magazine's 2011 Automobile of the Year. Last month, the Volt was named 2011 Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal. Motor Trend called the electric vehicle "a fully functional, no-compromise compact automobile that offers consumers real benefits in terms of lower running costs." Automobile Magazine called it "the most sophisticated, most important vehicle on the road today." The Volt can run on electricity for up to 50 miles, after which a gas-powered engine can extend the range to about 350 miles.

Kia to begin online auto sales on eBay
Kia and eBay Motors have joined to set up an online shopping service. More than 345 Kia dealers will list their vehicle inventory on the site so people can shop from home and make offers on the vehicles, Kia announced last week. Kia, quoting research firm J.D. Power and Associates, says Internet auto shopping is up 17 percent so far this year, and 79 percent of all auto shoppers use a third-party website before making a purchase.
