Electric rentals
Hertz recently started offering the electric version of the tiny Smart fortwo for rent in New York, with rentals in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco coming this year. Smart is offering a limited number of electric fortwos (shown at right) for lease to companies, governments and individuals. The vehicle will be distributed nationwide in 2012.
Hawaii hydro
General Motors and a Hawaii gas company are creating an underground network to pipe fuel to hydrogen cars in Honolulu by 2015. The deal aims to build the structure for 20 to 25 hydrogen stations across the island of Oahu, which would provide fuel for less or the same cost as unleaded gas to 10,000 cars.

Aloha means goodbye as well as hello. I had to read the article to find out whether Hawai'i is building hydro stations or getting rid of them. Mahalo.
