"I LOVE MY CAR BECAUSE ... when I was young, my father told me when I graduated from college he would give me a car. I graduated in 1958 and I selected a 1958 Chevy Impala that I named Yankee. I have never bought a car in my life. We've been together for 52 1/2 years."

Now THAT is a great graduation gift! Good for you for having the great taste and foresight to keep it all these years!

I took my drivers test in Texas, at 15 years old, in 1963 driving a 1958 Chevy Biscayne station wagon. No power anything and a stick shift. What a joy it was to ride that clutch, feather the gas pedal, and parallel park that monster. Modern cars don't require near the skill it once took to drive.
This impala is probably a 283ci V8 engine with a two speed powerglide automatic transmission.

The '58 Impala is the sweetest Impala ever made. Good for her for hanging on to this classic.

In 1958 GM still built things to last, now they make more money off replacement parts than new cars. That Impalla is a beautiful example of what american manufactuers could produce if they cared about their coustomers.

Proud of her, I was in the 8th grade in 1958 & will be 70 this November. We have a 66 Mustang Convertible, 1964 Chevy Impala SS, 1971 Lincoln & a 1977 Cady hearse, three window one of 24 made in 77. I love old cars, they bring back a lot of memories.
