E-car bills
Two new bills have been introduced to help promote electric vehicle sales. One proposes to more than double the per-manufacturer cap of electric vehicles that qualify for the $7,500 tax credit. Currently, the first 200,000 vehicles are eligible; the bill would raise that to 500,000. A second bill would allow the $7,500 rebate at the point of sale rather than applying it when buyers file their taxes.

Racing series
An all-electric open-wheel racing series has been announced for 2012. The Formula EF01 series will feature 10 races at tracks around the world with all teams competing in the electric EF01 single-seat racing car (shown at right). The EF01 has a top speed of 160 mph.
