Car ads will be racing through Super Bowl
The automotive industry is expected to buy the most commercial time of any advertiser category during Sunday's Super Bowl. As many as nine car brands are expected to peddle their wares during the most-watched television program of the year, from economy makes like Chevrolet, Hyundai and Kia to luxury marquees like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. For the Chevrolet parent, General Motors, the ad buy is a return to the Super Bowl after two years away. It will also be the first Super Bowl in a decade for BMW, which will run two commercials in the game, and the first ever for Mercedes-Benz. Six carmakers advertised during in the Super Bowl last year.

Auto loan rates drop to record lows
Interest rates on auto loans are hitting record lows, a boon to car buyers and a benefit to the nation's recovering auto industry. The interest rate on a four-year loan for a new car averaged 6.21 percent in a recent weekly survey of major banks and thrifts, according to Bankrate.com. That's the lowest average rate in more than two decades of tracking. A few lenders are offering rates as low as 2.99 percent, says Greg McBride, senior financial analyst for Bankrate.com.

Toyota adds quality departments in the US
Toyota has opened two more U.S. product quality field offices in an attempt to more quickly detect and address quality problems. The offices, located in Houston and Jacksonville, Fla., will put more Toyota researchers in the field and help the company catch problems early, Toyota says. Toyota already opened offices in San Francisco and New York. A fifth office is set to open in Denver by the end of March, Toyota says.
