Volt rush
General Motors plans to have Chevrolet Volts in all participating dealerships nationwide by the end of this year, accelerating the launch of its extended-range electric car. Nationwide ordering will begin in the second quarter, GM says. GM had previously said it planned to sell Volts in all 50 states by mid-2012.

Tesla SUV
Electric car maker Tesla has begun planning for a small SUV that will be called Model X and come to the market in 2014, the company says. Although the vehicle will be the size of a small SUV, Tesla said it would offer a much larger interior because the electric drive train and components will take up less space than a conventional gasoline engine and transmission.
