Ford about to move into start-stop technology
Engine shutoff technology has been big in Europe for years but Ford will soon be offering it in the U.S. Start-stop technology, where the engine shuts off when the vehicle is not moving, will be available on some Ford cars beginning in 2012, and the Focus and C-Max (pictured) appear to be the leading candidates. The addition of auto start-stop should increase fuel economy by 4 to 10 percent, depending on driving habits. The technology will be available in gas-powered vehicles equipped with manual or automatic transmissions.

Bond is back and sporting the best in luxury cars. In the pages of "Carte Blanche," the new James Bond book by Jeffery Deaver, the fictional British spy has continued with his classic preference of luxury sports car by selecting the new Bentley Continental GT as his car. The car has a top speed of 198 mph and has a 6-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine. "Carte Blanche" will be released June 14. Bond owned three Bentley cars in the course of the 14 original novels written by Ian Fleming.
