Stars tout the cars at New York auto show
Cars and stars shared the stage recently at the New York International Auto Show, which concludes today. Three of the four members of the band Kiss kicked off a MINI campaign during a press preview. Other celebrity endorsements included the band Train for the Ford Taurus, Food Network Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto for Toyota's Lexus, "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro for the Chevy Camaro, the band Black Eyed Peas for Volkswagen and comedian Stephen Colbert for Audi. Automakers used big names to promote small cars focused on fuel efficiency. "Everything seems to be geared around making cars more fuel efficient [and] lighter," says David Champion, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports.
