Report: Mazda to stop making cars in US
Mazda and Ford are in talks about the future of their joint Flat Rock plant after the Japanese automaker said it wouldn't build its next-generation midsize car there. The companies currently operate the plant in Michigan as a 50-50 partnership. Mazda hasn't disclosed its intentions regarding its venture with Ford, but says the model that will replace the Mazda6 will be produced in Japan. Citing unnamed company sources, the Nikkei financial daily said Mazda is considering selling its stake to Ford as it tries to restructure its global production.
