Ford testing operator support for Sync
Ford is taking a page from General Motors' OnStar system by testing live phone operators to help customers looking for directions to a business using Sync. This summer, Ford is testing Operator Assist, a feature that connects drivers with an operator if they have trouble getting directions electronically after three attempts, Ford says. Ford will decide this fall whether the testing was successful enough to offer the service on a broader basis. The service would be free for three years, after which customers would pay a $60 annual subscription fee.

Prince Albert's custom Lexus has killer view
Prince Albert II of Monaco received a one-of-a-kind wedding gift for his July 2 wedding to Charlene Wittstock. Belgian coachbuilders, in collaboration with Brussels-based Lexus engineers, spent more than 2,000 hours building a hybrid Lexus LS 600 Landaulet with a transparent one-piece polycarbonate roof (shown above). The demountable transparent roof was designed and built with input from European aerospace firms with expertise in jetfighter canopies. The clear, lightweight roof allows "perfect visibility" from both inside and outside the vehicle.
