US drivers facing record fuel spending
U.S. motorists are on pace to spend $491 billion for gasoline this year, the most ever. The average high for the year of $3.33 a gallon is short of the all-time high set in 2008 of $4.114. But overall, drivers have shelled out more this year than in 2008 because prices rose faster and have stayed high longer. Fuel prices may decline for a few weeks after the switch to winter blends, which are less costly to produce than summer blends. However, experts say to expect $4 a gallon in many markets this spring.

Alfa Romeo's US return to be delayed
Alfa Romeo is delaying the launch of a new two-seat roadster and SUV, extending its return to the U.S. to 2013 after a three-decade absence. The 4C two-seater (shown) was originally planned for a 2012 U.S. debut. An Alfa Romeo SUV also will be released in 2013, rather than 2012, because of questions over where the SUV will be produced. Alfa Romeo has also indicated that the Giulia sedan and the Giulia station wagon will come out in 2014, along with a large sedan.
