Truck hybrids
Ford and Toyota aren't speculating as to which models will be the first to get the hybrid treatment under the automakers' recent agreement to jointly develop light-truck hybrid technology. A formal partnership between the companies won't be reached until sometime in 2012, but the companies are likely to look first at Ford's F-Series of trucks and Toyota's full-size Tundra truck.

Release date
Volkswagen says it will launch a new small car -- the up! -- in Europe in December. The up! will be "one of the smallest four-seat cars," at 11.6 feet long. Natural gas and electric versions are planned for 2013. VW didn't say when the up! would be launched outside Europe.
