Great scott!
DeLorean is planning an electric version of its iconic DMC-12 gull-wing car for 2013. The electric version (shown) will have the same styling as the "Back to the Future" classic. But inside, it will be powered by batteries with a range of more than 100 miles. It will sell for about $90,000.

Tall tires
BMW is using tall, narrow tires on its electric i3 concept (shown) to reduce aerodynamic drag and increase fuel economy. The tires are especially beneficial at speeds above 40 mph where the energy used to overcome air resistance starts to multiply. Several electric concepts shown at the Frankfurt auto show last month also featured taller, narrow tires.
