Chevy to sell midsize pickup in the US
General Motors will build and sell the redesigned Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup truck in the U.S., the company recently announced. The smaller pickup's future in the U.S. had been in doubt ever since June 2009, when GM announced it would close the factory in Shreveport, La., where the Colorado is built. GM wouldn't comment on when the new truck will go on sale in the U.S. or how much it would cost. The company is getting ready to sell the latest version of the Colorado (shown) in Thailand, followed by other regions around the globe.

GM service facilitates private car rentals
General Motors is launching a service that will allow GM auto owners to put their vehicles up for short-term rental. GM is teaming up with San Francisco company RelayRides to offer peer-to-peer auto rentals using the automaker's OnStar vehicle communications system. The OnStar system would be combined with a mobile phone application to match owners with renters. The owner sets the price, which averages about $10 an hour, and supplies the gas. RelayRides takes a 35 percent cut and supplies a $1 million insurance policy. The service is expected to start in Northern California early next year.
