Cuban streets may get less 'American'
Cuban streets may get a new look as the country recently legalized the sale and purchase of automobiles for all citizens. Unrestricted sales had previously been limited to cars built before the 1959 revolution, one of the reasons Cuba's streets are filled with a multitude of finned American classics from the 1950s such as Chevrolet Bel Airs and Chrysler Imperials. The new law will allow the sale of cars from all models and years, and it legalizes ownership of more than one car.

Take measures to avoid flooded cars
Northwest used-car buyers are being warned to watch out for flood-damaged vehicles from other parts of the country. The NW Insurance Council and AAA give these tips for spotting flood damage:

• Choose a reputable dealer and obtain a vehicle history report
• Look and smell for mildew and mold
• Look for water stains, faded upholstery and discoloration of seat belts and door panels
• Inspect the dashboard underside for signs of mud and dirt.
• Check for rust on screws and other metal parts. Look under the vehicle for corrosion.
• Inspect the vehicle for dampness in the floor and carpeting and moisture on the inside of the instrument panel.
