Leaf expectations
Nissan expects that U.S. sales of the electric Leaf will double to at least 20,000 this year as the car goes on sale in more states. The company sold 9,674 Leafs in 2011, but the car was initially available in only seven states. It's now available in 30 states. Nissan says improved inventory will also boost sales.

SUV leader
Mazda says the EPA fuel-economy figures for its all-new 2013 CX-5 compact SUV are as high as 35-mpg for some models — the best in its class for non-hybrids. The 35 mpg rating is for highway driving with manual transmission.
