If you're tempted to hang 500 lbs off your rear hitch, take my advice, DON'T. Get a small trailer (they sell nice little ones at Harbor Freight for not too much money.) Cars and Trucks aren't designed for 500 lb hitch weight and handling, braking, and ability to see over the hood (as it points towards heaven) all will suffer.
