Fit EV takes mpg title; Hertz adds Jetta TDI to rental line-up

Fit leads in mileage
The Honda Fit electric car has received the highest fuel-efficiency rating ever from the Environmental Protection Agency. Honda says the 2013 subcompact received a combined adjusted mpg-equivalency rating of 118. The Fit consumes 29 kilowatt hours of electricity per 100 miles. The EPA estimates its combined city and highway driving range at 82 miles on a single charge.

Jetta TDI for rent
Hertz is offering the 2012 Volks-wagen Jetta TDI "clean" diesel for rental in the U.S. The sedan gets 42 mpg and has a range of 600 miles per tank of fuel. The diesel Jettas are available at select locations from the company's Green Traveler Collection.
