Richard Threlkeld, correspondent, was driving one of these got hit by another vehicle and was killed.
These cars are too small to survive an accident.

Threlkeld hit a tanker truck and left the road - that's likely to be fatal in any vehicle. The Mini has an excellent safety record - better than many much larger vehicles, and contrary to your assertion, a great many Mini drivers survive collisions.
