SEMA picks hottest cars; time change a wiper and lights reminder

SEMA awards go to Ford, Scion and Jeep
The Ford Mustang was named Hottest Car at this year's SEMA show, while the Scion FR-S (shown) took Hottest Sport Compact honors, the Ford F-Series won Hottest Truck and the Jeep Wrangler received the Hottest 4x4-SUV award. The SEMA awards recognize vehicle models that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization and that showcase the year's top products. SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, is a nonprofit trade association specializing in aftermarket products.

Check lights, wipers when you 'fall back'
As you turn back the clocks, check your vehicle's lights and wipers, says the Car Care Council. The consumer-education group advises drivers to inspect vehicle lights and wipers, and replace burned-out bulbs and worn blades. Other advice as days get shorter and rain becomes more prevalent:
• If there is any doubt as to whether your headlights should be on, turn them on.
• Keep headlights, taillights and signal lights clean.
• Make sure your headlights are properly aimed. Misaimed headlights can blind other drivers and reduce your ability to see the road.
