Return to glory for onetime drag-racing car

OWNER: Val Kimbrough, Edmonds
OCCUPATION: Retired sheet-metal worker
CAR'S MAKE AND MODEL: 1956 Chevrolet 150 Gasser
"I LOVE MY CAR BECAUSE ... it was literally brought back from the grave. I found it in Montana, where it sat in a corn field for the past 40 years. Originally a U.S. Army-issue car that was stationed in Fort Ord, Calif., the car was purchased in 1960 and transferred into a Gasser-style drag car, which raced in the Northwest circuit until 1970, when it blew an engine and was retired. I purchased this car in September of 2011, where it went through an extensive rebuild in my garage in Edmonds. Now this racer brought back to its former glory only goes out on nice days and is a show winner in many events in the Seattle area. It goes to show you that classics never die."
