Auto sales hot streak continues in June
Sales of new vehicles were up across the board in June, with overall sales in the U.S. growing 9.2 percent to 1.4 million vehicles. That compares with about 1.28 million in the same month a year ago, according to the Autodata Corp. The bigger surprise was the closely watched seasonally adjusted annual sales rate, which came close to 16 million vehicles during the month — the highest level recorded since 2007.

New Corvette to get 29 mpg on highway
General Motors says the new Chevrolet Corvette will get 29 mpg in highway driving with its seven-speed manual transmission. The 2014 Corvette Stingray has a 455-horsepower V-8 engine that can take the car from zero to 60 mph in less than four seconds. The car's engine can also run on four cylinders at highway speeds. It gets 17 mpg in the city. Testing isn't finished on Corvettes with automatic transmissions. The new Corvette hits dealers in the fall, starting at just under $52,000.
