LeMay to hold Family Zone grand opening
Kids and kids at heart can have hands-on automotive fun during the Family Zone grand opening Saturday at LeMay — America's Car Museum in Tacoma. The new activity space for families will have five interactive areas, including a pinewood derby track and a 1920s-era car adapted for kids to pretend to drive. Santa will be upstairs in the Showcase Gallery for photos in a museum car. The event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free with museum admission. For details, visit lemaymuseum.org.

Lower interest rates lead to larger loans

Lower auto interest rates helped car buyers afford larger loans in the third quarter of the year, says Experian, an information-services company. Rates dropped to 4.27 percent, the lowest rate since the organization started reporting the data in 2008. The average amount financed for a new vehicle was $26,719, up from $25,963 in the third quarter last year. The average monthly payment during the period was $458.
