10 millionth U.S. Accord
Honda recently hit a milestone: the production of 10 million American-made Accords. The car that marked that number rolled off the assembly line at a plant in Marysville, Ohio. That facility and three other U.S. plants have produced a total of 20 million vehicles, Honda says.

Toyota to tap landfill

A Toyota plant will partner with a Kentucky company to generate power from landfill waste. The automaker expects that the collaboration with Waste Services of the Bluegrass will supply enough power each year to produce 10,000 vehicles. A network of wells at the landfill will collect and prepare the gas created from waste breakdown, which will be used to fuel generators for electricity. Underground lines will carry the electricity to Toyota's plant, located a few miles south of the landfill. Construction of the system will begin next month and is expected to be complete early next year.
