Corvette to get 650 hp

Chevrolet plans to unleash a 650-horsepower Corvette Z06 late this year. It will be the most powerful production car ever from General Motors. The 2015 Corvette (shown) will have a zero-to-60-mph time of less than 3.5 seconds. For the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, the automaker started with the same engine block used in the Corvette Stingray's LT1. To get more power, it installed special aluminum alloy cylinder heads that are stronger and handle heat better than conventional aluminum heads. No price has been announced.
